The image shows a runway segment of 800 x 200 m. The top diagrams are orthogonal views displaying surface reflectance at the laser wavelength (Near Infrared) by brightness coding, and elevation represented by color coding and contour lines. The runway curvature of about 30 cm from center to edges is visible, indicating the high vertical resolution possible with laser altimetry. The bottom image shows a perspective rendering using geometry and reflectance information. The vertical scale is exagerated by a factor of 60 to make the curvature visible. |
